Mechanical:
Brakes
If you've heard a grinding noise when applying the brakes your pads could be excessively worn and needing to be replaced along with potentially damaged discs. If you pull to one side when braking, this usually means a sticking or seized mechanical or hydraulic component. If your pedal feels spongy there could be air in the hydraulic system due to a brake fluid leak. If it pulsates you could have a distorted brake disc or drum.
Clutch
We offer a range of high quality new clutches from leading clutch manufacturers. At BRAVO MOTORS we use qualified technicians so this often complex task that involves extensive stripping down of engine and gear box components is carried out by a competent person.
It is important to get specialist advice before fitting a new clutch as many symptoms could indicate a problem with the clutch, whilst the real fault may be something completely different. At BRAVO MOTORS our specialist will provide you with a free clutch check and/or help to arrange vehicle recovery if your car has broken down.
Suspensions
Suspension systems are not there simply to make your journey comfortable. They also impact your car's handling and braking, not to mention reduce road noise and safeguard the car's frame from damage and wear.
Timing Belt
At BRAVO MOTORS we also provide a cam belt replacement service. This is particularly necessary when vehicles reach certain mileages as recommended by manufactures. If the cam belt is not replaced at the set intervals it could break often causing expensive damage to the engine. This can be a complicated job that requires specialist skills and technical information which at BRAVO MOTORS we are able to offer.
Certain engines with overhead camshafts have timing belts that have a limited life span. Your vehicle owner's manual will recommend at what mileage the timing belt must be replaced.
Some technicians may recommend that you replace the water pump during a timing belt job because 90% of the labour to change the water pump has already been done with the timing belt job and some technicians consider it good insurance to replace the pump at this time. Ask your technician what his experience is with the water pump on your model car and look at how long you plan to keep the car.
Tyres
UK law insists your car must be fitted with the correct tyre for the vehicle you own - and that they are inflated to the manufacturer's recommended pressures.
The worse your tyres are, the higher the risk that an accident takes place. Please be aware that if you drive when the tyre conditions do not conform to the legal requirements you could be fined up to £2,500 for each non compliant tyre and have up to 3 penalty points put on your licence. Also such fault invalidates your insurance.
Batteries
Without batteries you car can't go anywhere. Don't wait until it fails you before paying it any attention.
At BRAVO MOTORS we are able to offer a comprehensive battery service including battery checks, new battery selection, fitting service and an environmentally friendly disposal of old or dead units.
What to do if you have a flat battery
When everything is functioning properly, your battery is normally recharged during the process of you just driving around. But if, for whatever reason, something goes wrong or you leave something electrical on when you're parked up (like the lights) the juice can be drained and not replaced.
When this happens you might want to try the following:
Check to see if any interior or exterior electrical have been left on. If they are, turn them off.
Don't attempt a restart for 20 mins (it can take this long for a battery to regain enough power to run the starter motor).
Cross your fingers and try turning the key again. Hopefully, this time it'll start.
We can't promise it will work every time, but it might just get you going when you really need it.
If you're finding you have to do this on a regular basis a proper battery check is highly recommended.
Better spotting the exhausts early
Your car's exhaust discharges spent gases, controls noise, boosts engine performance and improves fuel consumption. If you hear odd noises coming from your exhaust don't ignore it and get it checked promptly.
Our specialists will be able to diagnose the fault and help you decide THE best course of action. The sooner the fault is discovered and dealt with usually the less significant the repairs are.
How long your exhaust lasts for depends on how far and how often you drive your car rather than the length of time it has been fitted. Short trips around town tend to corrode a car exhausts in a much shorter time and distance than long journeys.
As a general rule of thumb always keep an ear open for changes in your exhaust noise. If you notice a change, just get it checked so that any problem is detected in its early stages.
